The Spokesman for the Chief Executive's Office issued the following statement today:

"The Chief Executive well understands the public concern over the purchase of a car by the Financial Secretary. He has given his initial views on March 10. Having considered the relevant information and the full circumstances of this case, the Chief Executive has formally written to the Financial Secretary to inform him of his conclusion today.

"In view of the public concern, the Chief Executive has decided to make public his letter to the Financial Secretary, so as to apprise the community of his conclusion."
