Following is the transcript (English portion) of a media session given by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, this (March 10) afternoon at the Central Government Offices:
Question: Mr Tung, regarding the Financial Secretary and the question of his car purchase, do you have any thoughts on that and do you feel in any way it has injured your administration?
CE: I have met with him. I have looked into the matter. I told him that he should be more sensitive when it comes to issues like a conflict of interest. I believe that he did not do it for personal gain, it is not deliberately done for gains. I have asked again and again all my colleagues in the Government when it comes to issues of conflict of interest, we need to be whiter than white, apply the highest standard of oneself.
