Government will work with community to revive economy, says Acting CE

*********************************************************

The Government will work hand-in-hand with the community to make a concerted effort to revive the Hong Kong economy, the Acting Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, said today (January 17).

Speaking after a Legislative Council debate on the Policy Address, Mr Tsang said the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, had widely consulted various sectors of the community while preparing this year's Policy Address.

Policy Secretaries had also consulted widely in drawing up the Policy Agenda which would provide a 'road map' for the way forward in specific policy areas, he said.

Mr Tsang said the Policy Address clearly set out the future direction for revitalising Hong Kong's economy.

"Our efforts to facilitate economic restructuring are beginning to bear fruit," said Mr Tsang.

"The Government will follow the direction laid down in the Policy Address and, hand-in-hand with the whole community, make a concerted effort to revive our economy."
