Members of the public can keep abreast of the policy initiatives of the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau for the coming 18 months by viewing the information paper on Health, Welfare and Food Bureau Policy Agenda 2003 on government web site.

A spokesman for the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau said today (January 15) that the paper outlined the policy initiatives under the ambit of the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong.

The spokesman said: "The paper provides a brief on what the Bureau is seeking to achieve in the areas of health services, food and environmental hygiene, care for elders, welfare services, promotion of well-being and interests of women.

"The paper will also enable members of the public to have a better understanding of the Bureau's commitment and accountability to building a caring and healthy society."

Copies of the information papers have been sent to chairmen and members of three Legislative Council's Panels -- Health Services, Welfare Services and Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene.

The paper on Health, Welfare and Food Bureau Policy Agenda 2003 can be viewed and downloaded at the Bureau's website http://www.hwfb.gov.hk.
