The following is the transcript of the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology (SCIT), Mr Henry Tang, at a media session after attending the Hong Kong Exporters' Association's luncheon today (September 26):

Question: Chau Tak-hay has been appointed as the Special Consultant for WTO affairs by MOFTEC, what do you make of his appointment. Do you think that he is the best candidate for the job? What benefit will it bring to Hong Kong?

SCIT: I think Mr Chau is the best candidate for this job because first, he has accumulated many years in WTO experience and he has very valuable insight into the WTO's working. So I welcome his appointment and I am sure he will be eminently suitable and MOFTEC will also benefit from his experience.

Question: Will Hong Kong benefit from his experience?

SCIT: Well, Hong Kong will continue to play a constructive and active role in the WTO.
