A Government spokesman announced today (September 25) that the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, has re-appointed Mr Peter Woo Kwong Ching, GBS, JP as Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) for another term of two years with effect from October 1, 2002.

The Chief Executive said, "Mr Woo has proved to be a devoted and outstanding Chairman of TDC. Not only is he a highly effective 'ambassador' for Hong Kong, he has also decisively charted new directions for TDC, ensuring the trade promotion body remains a helpful partner of the business community at a time of changing economics."

Mr Peter Woo, aged 56, is the Chairman of Wheelock and Company Limited and its associate company, The Wharf (Holdings) Limited. He is also the Chairman of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee and a member of the Court of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
