All drivers towing container trailers across the land boundary control points are advised to fill in the trailer numbers on the Import/Export Manifests to be submitted to the Customs and Excise Department starting from September 18.

A spokesman for the Customs and Excise Department said today (September 10), "This initiative will help the Customs and the Police in the prevention and detection of stolen trailers crossing the land boundary control points."

He added that both Departments might conduct joint operations at the land boundary control points after the new measure took effect.

Leaflets about the new initiative will be distributed to truck drivers when their vehicles get across the control points at Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To and Sha Tau Kok.
