Hong Kong Narcotics Report 2002 published

*****************************************

The Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau has published the new issue of Hong Kong Narcotics Report, which records the challenging year of 2001 in which a number of notable and benchmark anti-drug events were held, a spokesman of the Narcotics Division said.

During the year 2001, the ground-breaking of Drug InfoCentre Phase II marked a new impetus on drug prevention; Hong Kong became the President of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering; and the first-ever Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Conference on Policy to Tackle Drug Abuse and Trafficking was held.

Entitled "Hong Kong Narcotics Report 2002", the report depicts the concerted efforts made by the Action Committee Against Narcotics, various government departments and the non-government organisations in tackling drug abuse, drug trafficking and money laundering.

It also reports on the work on research, preventive education and publicity, as well as treatment and rehabilitation service.

The bilingual report has been uploaded onto the website of the Narcotics Division at http://www.info.gov.hk/nd.
