Quality Taxi Drivers Commended

The quality taxi service delivered by taxi drivers is critical to taxi passengers' travel experience and satisfaction, and continuous self-improvement on the provision of taxi services is important to attract more passengers. .

Speaking at the Taxi Driver Commendation Scheme Prize Presentation Ceremony cum the launching of the Quality Taxi Services Steering Committee (QTSSC) Homepage today (August 25), Chairman of the QTSSC, Mr. Jeffrey Lam said: "Taxis play an unique role in our transport system, providing personalized services for locals and tourists alike. It is important for members of the trade to maintain quality service to meet increasing passengers' expectation sand Hong Kong's image as a world class cosmopolitan city."

He said: "I am pleased to witness the fruitful result of the 18 quality taxi drivers and some 500 merit taxi drivers reported lost properties found on taxis, who have endeavoured to provide quality taxi service to the public.

Also officiating at the ceremony, the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Robert Footman, said: "I highly appreciate the Quality Taxi Drivers and the merit taxi drivers who have demonstrated excellent service and are role models for others to follow."

Since the 24 hours free taxi lost property hotline was launched in December 2001, some 700 passengers successfully found their lost property through the hotline service.

Over 500 merit drivers made this possible through their honesty and commitment to good passenger service.

Mr Footman said: "The QTSSC has long been developing initiatives to enhance the taxi service quality. More initiatives will be developed in the coming months."

"The taxi trade, like other businesses in Hong Kong, face difficult times. I believe that providing quality taxi services is one of the effective strategies to help the trade to meet the expectations of your customers."

The Quality Taxi Drivers who were nominated from the public and tourists with the commendation on their quality services and good conducts in the past one year were awarded with Quality Taxi Drivers Certificates after assessment and accreditation by the Assessment Panel formed under the QTSSC while the merit taxi drivers and 27 taxi radio stations were awarded with Certificates of Appreciation.
