The Government is inviting prequalification applications for the design and construction of the development project at Tamar, details of which are contained in a notice of prequalification of tenderers gazetted today (August 16).
A spokesman for the Government said a prequalification document is available and will be sent to those parties which have registered Expression of Interest for prequalification last month. The prequalification document is also available for collection by other interested parties at the Architectural Services Department.
The prequalification document spells out in the main the overall design objectives of the development, general user requirements and selection criteria for prequalification. It has been uploaded onto the Internet (website: http://www.archsd.gov.hk/cgc/).
The eligibility criteria for applicants are laid out in the gazette notice. Interested parties could apply for prequalification from now until November 15.
"After closing of the current prequalification exercise, we will prequalify no more than five candidates to participate in the forthcoming 'design and build' contract tender exercise based on their technical, managerial and financial capability to fulfill the contract as well as design capability."
"The qualified candidates will be invited to submit tenders for the design and build contract in mid-2003," the spokesman said.
The scope of the contract will consist of the design and construction of the Central Government Complex, Legislative Council Complex, Exhibition Gallery and Civic Place, associated carparking spaces and pedestrian footbridges.
Completed prequalification applications should be sent to the Architectural Services Department, 36/F., Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong not later than 12 noon on November 15, 2002. Late applications will not be accepted.
The prequalification exercise forms part of the tender exercise. Both exercises are covered by the Agreement on Government Procurement of the World Trade Organisation.
