The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) today (July 22) advised consumers to stop using "Winnie The Pooh" table lamps, which were supplied as free gifts for the purchase of "Braun" Thermoscan or "Braun" D15511 Power Toothbrush.

Acting on a complaint, EMSD found that the earthing of the table lamp concerned was not fixed in a secured manner. In the event of loosening of the earth wire, the table lamp might not have adequate protection against electric shock.

Moreover, the table lamp was fitted with a non-compliant fuse which might not be able to provide proper protection in case of an electrical short-circuit fault.

Consumers are advised to return these table lamps to the T&G (H.K.) Holding Ltd. through designated collection centers as soon as possible. The supplier will offer other free gifts for exchange.
