Transcript of SHPL's media session

**********************************

Following is a transcript of a media session by the Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands, Mr Michael Suen, after the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Infrastructure Experience Exhibition at City Hall today (July 3):

Question: Will the construction of infrastructure projects bring in job opportunities?

Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands: I think that's quite obvious. In terms of infrastructural projects, we need a lot of people in terms of construction of those projects. So during the construction of those projects it will create quite a lot of job opportunities.

Question: How can the shortening of objection period help to create job opportunities?

Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands: I think we've got to resolve differences of views. It is important for us to consider all objections objectively in order to resolve all differences of views. And what I have been just saying is that we want to shorten those periods of objections without at the same time sacrificing the rights of anyone. If we can manage to do that, we will be able to create those job opportunities within a shorter period.
