State leaders depart for Beijing after attending 5th anniversary of the HKSAR celebrations

President Jiang Zemin and his wife, Ms Wang Yeping, departed for Beijing

this afternoon (July 1) after attending the activities celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Accompanied by Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and his wife, Ms Zhou Hanqiong, and other senior Central People's Government (CPG) officials, the President was seen off at the airport by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, and Mrs Betty Tung.

Other members of the party who bade farewell to the State leaders and the delegation were the Director of the Liaison Office of the CPG in the HKSAR, Mr Jiang Enzhu; the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Andrew Li; the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald Tsang; the Financial Secretary, Mr Antony Leung; the Secretary for Justice, Ms Elsie Leung; the President of the Legislative Council, Mrs Rita Fan; Member of the Executive Council, Mr Leung Chun-ying; the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, Mr Ji Peiding; as well as the Commander-in-chief, Lieutenant General Xiong Ziren, and Political Commissar, Major-General Wang Yufa, of the People's Liberation Army Forces in Hong Kong.
