Appointment to the Hong Kong Sports Development Board

The Hong Kong SAR Government announced today (April 4) the following appointments by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, to the Hong Kong Sports Development Board for the period between April 1, 2002 and March 31, 2003.

Chairman: Mr John Terence Hung, SBS, JP

Vice-Chairman: Mr Billy Kong Churk-hoi, MH, JP

Members: Professor Chan Kai-ming

Mr John Fan Kam-ping, BBS, JP

Professor Frank Fu Hoo-kin

Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming, JP

Mr Wai Kee-shun

Mr David Yau Po-wing

The Honourable Bernard Chan

Mrs Jenny Fung Ma Kit-han

Mr Alfred Fung Kwok-chor

Mr Albert Hung Chao-hong

In addition to the above appointments, two public officers, the Secretary for Home Affairs and the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, have been appointed to the Board for the coming term. The President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and one additional representative of the SF&OC, are ex-officio Members of the Board.

Prof Chan Kai-ming has also been re-appointed as Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute Management Committee for the period between April 1, 2002 and March 31, 2003.

A Government spokesman said: "The overall review on the formulation of a strategic policy blueprint on sport is still underway. The re-appointment of all the existing members of the Board for another year will enable the present Board to continue to oversee its work pending the outcome of the review."
