Live broadcast of Budget Speech delivery on Internet

Members of the public will be able to watch the live broadcast of the 2002-2003 Budget Speech delivery by the Financial Secretary in the Legislative Council on the Internet and get copies of the Speech at various outlets on March 6.

By choosing the "Webcasting" button on the 2002-03 Budget Homepage at http://www.budget.gov.hk/eindex.html, the public will be able to view the delivery of the Budget Speech by the Financial Secretary, Mr Antony Leung, at 2.30 pm on March 6.

Mr Leung will hold a press conference around 5 pm after his delivery of the Budget Speech. He will also participate in a joint television panel discussion on the Budget at 8.30 pm. Both will be broadcast live on the Budget Homepage.

Internet users can also read from the Budget Homepage the full text of the Budget Speech, which will be uploaded in segments onto the Internet when Mr Leung is delivering it in the Legislative Council, and other Budget related documents.

Copies of the Budget Speech and a leaflet carrying Budget highlights will be available for collection by members of the public after 4.45 pm on March 6.

Interested persons can get a free copy of the Budget Speech while the stock lasts from the 18 District Offices of the Home Affairs Department; Government Publications Centre at Queensway Government Offices, Low Block, ground floor, 66 Queensway, Admiralty; and a counter set up by the Marketing Office of the Information Services Department on the ground floor of Murray Building, Garden Road, Central.

A small amount of the glossy version of the Budget Speech in Chinese and English will be available for sale to the public at $180 each at the Government Publications Centre at Queensway Government Offices.

A leaflet, highlighting the main points of the 2002-2003 Budget, will be distributed free to the public at:

* Nine Mass Transit Railway stations in Central, Causeway Bay, Tai Koo, Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong, Kwai Fong and Tsuen Wan;

* Four Kowloon-Canton Railway stations in Hung Hom, Kowloon Tong, Sha Tin and Tai Po;

* counter set up by the Marketing Office of the Information Services Department at ground floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Central;

* Government Publications Centre, Queensway Government Offices, Low Block, ground floor, 66 Queensway;

* Government Offices at Immigration Tower, Revenue Tower and Wan Chai Tower in Wan Chai; Queensway Government Offices at 66 Queensway; North Point Government Offices at 333 Java Road; Tsuen Wan Government Offices at 38 Sai Lau Kok Road; Trade and Industry Department Tower at 700 Nathan Road and Central Government Offices at Lower Albert Road;
