CS touches down in London

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald Tsang, has today (UK time, November 18) landed in London for his first official visit to the United Kingdom and Europe since taking up his new job in May.

During the visit until November 24, Mr Tsang will meet a wide cross-section of political and business leaders in London, Paris, Brussels and Luxembourg.

The main focus of the trip is to provide an update on Hong Kong's latest economic development, highlight the successful implementation of 'One Country, two Systems' and explain the opportunities in Hong Kong following China's entry into the World Trade Organisation.

Mr Tsang's London programme tomorrow (November 19) will include keynote speeches at the influential Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Annual Dinner.

The Chief Secretary for Administration will meet the British Deputy Prime Minister, Mr John Prescott, the Governor of Bank of England, Sir Edward George, Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine of Lairg and the Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Mr Charles Kennedy.

Mr Tsang will also meet with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons and hold discussion with Hong Kong Committee of the All Party Parliamentary China Group.

A number of interviews and briefings with leading international media organisations have also been arranged.
