Recall of flexible cord set of hot pots and rice cookers

********************************************************

The supplier of "Sanki" hot pots and rice cookers has agreed to recall the flexible cord set of some models of the products after the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) found that it failed to comply with some safety requirements.

A regular inspection by the department revealed that a non-compliant fuse was fitted to the plug of the flexible cord set for the concerned products that might pose a hazard to the users in case of an electrical short-circuit fault.

The concerned products, including hot pots model SK-300, SK-480, SK-3.0A1 & SK-3.0A2 as well as rice cookers model SK-50A & SK-70A, supplied by Shing Bong Development Limited, were on sale from June to September this year.

A spokesman for the EMSD today (October 12) urged consumers who have purchased these products to stop using them immediately and return the flexible cord sets to the supplier through designated channels as soon as practicable. The supplier will provide a new set of flexible cord for replacement.

Details of the recall can be obtained by calling the supplier at 2401 2168.
