The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) today (October 5) urged consumers, for safety reasons, to stop using immediately the AC adapters and power cords for certain models of Compaq "Armada" notebook computer.

The appeal was made after EMSD had received an overseas recall announcement of the concerned AC adapters, bearing the model serial number "PPP003SD", "PPP003" and "PP2012", which might overheat and pose fire hazards to users.

Consumers are advised to return these adapters to the supplier, "Compaq Computer Limited", as soon as practicable. The supplier will provide a new AC adapter for replacement.
