**************

Following is the transcript (English portion) of the media session given by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald Tsang, on arrival in Guangzhou this (September 27) afternoon:

Reporter: What are you hoping to achieve through this series of meetings? Do you have in mind, in particular, revive Hong Kong's economy? Do you see it as a way to revive Hong Kong's economy too?

Mr Tsang: Well, the Guangdong provincial and Hong Kong SAR cooperation is a long-term enterprise. It is one of the priority projects of the SAR Government. We have worked together in the liaison meeting whic meets periodically. After the last meeting, there are a number of joint ventures which we are now exploring. I am following them up, particularly as regards our check-points in Lo Wu and in Lok Ma Chau. And I'm sure all these activities will promote two-way trade, tourism, and in turn promote and sustain Hong Kong's economic viability.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
