World's Champion Dancers to Perform "World Ballroom and Latin American Dance"

Ballroom and Latin American dance lovers should not miss this performance presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department on Oct 27 and Oct 28 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium Arena at 7.30pm. Six award-winning couples from the UK, Germany, Russia, China, Hong Kong, etc. will bring to the audience the best of Ballroom and Latin American dance. Programme highlight would be the couple Li Zhao Lin and Li Xiao Yuan who is the only Chinese dancers among the 24 place of British Standard Rising Star Open Championship.

The six couples won a lots of awards and ranking around the world. Jonathan Crossley and Kylie Jones from UK won 2000 World Standard Championship, International Standard Championship, 2000 & 2001 British Open Championship, United Kingdom Standard Championship and 2001 European Championship.

Ralf Muller and Olga Muller-Omeltchenko from Germany won numerous awards known as 1994 & 1996 European Amateur Latin Championship, 1996 World Amateur Latin Championship, 1994 to 1997 German Amateur Latin Championship, 1996 British Open Amateur Latin Championship (Blackpool), 1st Place in UK & International Latin Championship, 1997 1st Place British Open Professional Rising Star (Blackpool) and 1998 & 1999 German Open Professional Latin Champions.

From Russia, Marat Gimaev and Alina Bassiouk won prizes and ranking as 2000 Russian 10 Dance Champions, 1st Runner-up in Russian Standard Dance Championship, 3rd Runner-up in Russian Latin American Dance Championship, World 10 Dance Finalist, World Standard Semi-Finalists, UK Latin American Dance Semi-Finalist (Blackpool) and German Open Standard Semi-Finalists.

Local dancer Nick Fok and Michelle Lu from Taiwan have been four times South East Asia Latin American Dance Champions. Apart from the above mentioned ranking, the couple from China Li Zhao Lin and Li Xiao Yuan has also acquired many prizes and rankings. They have been 5 times China National Professional Standard Champions, 5 times Professional Dancesport Standard Champions, 2000 International Ballroom Rising Star Semi-Finalists, among the 48th place of International Professional Standard Championship 2001, among the 24th place of Raising Star UK Championship 2001 and among the 48th place of British Professional Standard Open Championship.

During the performance, audience are welcome to join the participatory social dance and Para Para dance sessions led by performance coordinator, Ms Pearl Chan. In addition, the comperes will be Ellesmere Choy and Lily Poon from Hong Kong.

"World Ballroom and Latin American Dance" features Floor Tables each of HK$3,800, including eight seats with complimentary drinks. Other tickets priced at $380, $250, $150 and $100 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-priced concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Recipients (Limited tickets for students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Recipients available on a first-come-first-served basis). A 10% discount is available for every purchase of 10 tickets or more. A 10% discount is also available for Friends of LCSD performing venues. (The above discount is not applicable to Floor Tables.)
