The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a general restaurant in Tuen Mun to suspend business for two weeks for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The general restaurant, situated at Shop No. N on the ground floor of Tuen Mun Fa Yuen, Tuen Mun, has been ordered to suspend business for 14 days starting today (July 23).
"This is the licensee's second suspension. In January and May 2000, he was convicted of failing to keep the food room clean and exposure of open food. He was fined a total of $6,000 and 20 demerit points were registered against him under the Department's Demerit Points System, resulting in the suspension of his general restaurant licence for seven days from August 9 to 15 last year," said a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today.
"However, the licensee failed to rectify the irregularities. In June 2000, February and March 2001, he was convicted again of failing to keep the food room clean and food preparation in open space and was fined a total of $4,500. A further 20 demerit points were deducted which led to the 14-day suspension this time."
The spokesman reminded licensees of all food premises to strictly abide by the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance and its related regulations, or else they might have their licences suspended or even cancelled.
