The Government announced today (July 20) the re-appointment of Dr Joseph Chow Ming-kuen as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Examinations Authority (HKEA), and the appointment of Mrs Rosalind Chan as the Deputy Chairman for a new term of service from September 1, 2001 to August 31, 2003

The following serving members have been re-appointed for another term of two years commencing September 1, 2001:

Miss Eliza Chan Ching-har, Senior Partner of Jewkes and Partners;

Mr Kwok Wing-keung, Principal of Carmel Holy Word Secondary School;

Mr Lai Shu-ho, Principal of The Mission Covenant Church Holm Glad College;

Mr Ronald Lu Yuen-cheung, Managing Director of Ronald Lu and Partners (HK) Ltd;

Mr Paul Yau Yat-heem, Principal of Queen Maud Secondary School;

Deputy Secretary for Education and Manpower.

The new members appointed to the Authority for a term of three years starting September 1, 2001:

Mr Chan Wing-kwong, Principal of Po Leung Kuk Luk Hing To Primary School;

Dr Anissa Chan Wong Lai-kuen, Principal of SKH Bishop Mok Sau Tseng Secondary School;

Mr Hon Hau-sut, Principal of TWGHs Wong Fut Nam College

Mr Kwan Chuk-fai, General Manager (Corporate Communication) of New World First Bus Services Ltd.;

Dr Magdalena Mok Mo-ching, Deputy Centre Director of the Centre for Research and International Collaboration of the Hong Kong Institute of Education;

Mr Or Choi-kuen, Teacher of Munsang College (Hong Kong Island);

Ms Pang Shuk-mei, Teacher of Queen Elizabeth School Old Students' Association Secondary School; and

Mr Yip Chee-tim, Vice Principal of Pui Ching Middle School

A Government spokesman said that the new office of the HKEA would review the internal operation of the Authority, including the development process of examination papers, and it would adjust the content and format of examinations to support curriculum reform.

Note: *The appointment of these members is for a period of two years from September 1, 2001 to August 31, 2003.

The appointment of all the other members is for a period of three years with effect from September 1, 2001.
