Following is a statement by the Deputy Secretary for Security, Mr Raymond Wong, today (July 11) on his appointment as the Commissioner of Customs and Excise:

"I am very glad and honoured to be appointed as the Commissioner of Customs and Excise. This is a very important and challenging job. I pledge to do my best in my new post. In the next few days, I look forward to meeting with Mr John Tsang and other colleagues of the Department to gain a thorough understanding of their work. I also look forward to working in full co-operation with colleagues of the Department to provide the public with a high quality service."
