Your Best Business Partner: MCO(R)

To enhance the employment opportunities for people with disabilities through innovative marketing approaches, the Marketing Consultancy Office (Rehabilitation)("MCO(R)") is participating in the SME Market Day organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council on July 5 (tomorrow) and 6.

A spokesman of the Social Welfare Department (SWD) said as pledged in the Chief Executive's 2000 Policy Address, MCO(R) was established on a permanent basis as from 2001 under the management of SWD.

MCO(R) has formed a strong alliance with 52 rehabilitation service organisations with a view to promoting the varied competitive services and products provided by people with disabilities, the spokesman remarked.

He added that the alliance comprised 89 Sheltered Workshops and Supported Employment Units with a pool of human resources of over 8,000, providing cost-effective outsourcing service and hiring service.

Outsourcing service includes labeling, letter-shopping, flyer/leaflet distribution, courier, design, printing, programming, web design, packaging, catering, office cleaning, laundry, car beauty, sewing and etc.

Under hiring service, people with disabilities may take up jobs such as data input helper, office assistant, clerk, receptionist, IT technician, designer, tele-marketer, stock-keeper, chef/kitchen helper, driver, cleaner, multi-skilled worker and others.

The spokesman stressed that people with disabilites were offering services and products to big and small business organisations and government departments contributing to the advancement of productivity and economy of Hong Kong, as well as to the welfare of the people with disabilites.

Members of the public are welcome to visit MCO(R)'s booth No.B14 of the SME Market Day, which will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, to explore the business partnership with the people with disabilities.
