Judicial Appointment

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

The Judiciary today (March 19) announced the appointment of Mr Johnson LAM Man-hon as Judge of the District Court and Mr William NG Sing-wai as Permanent Magistrate.

The appointment of Mr Johnson LAM Man-hon will take effect from April 17, 2001, while that of Mr William NG Sing-wai will be effective from March 20, 2001.

The biographical notes of the newly-appointed District Judge and Permanent Magistrate are as follow:

Mr Johnson LAM Man-hon

Mr Johnson LAM Man-hon was born in Hong Kong in 1961. He obtained Bachelor of Law and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from University of Hong Kong in 1983 and 1984 respectively. In 1984, he was called to the Bar in Hong Kong and was in private practice since 1985. He was appointed by the Hong Kong Judiciary as Temporary Deputy Registrar of the High Court on a number of occasions in August and September in 2000.

Mr William NG Sing-wai

Mr William NG Sing-wai was born in Hong Kong in 1951. After graduating from University of Oxford in 1977, he obtained Diploma in Law from City University, London in 1986. He was called to the Bars in England and Hong Kong separately in 1988 and was in private practice since then.
