Mr Peter Clarke, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Human Resources Development in the Financial Services Sector welcomed the proposed Admission of Mainland Professionals Scheme announced by the Financial Secretary today (March 7).

Mr Clarke, who submitted the Advisory Committee's first report to the FS recently, viewed the proposal as a positive response to the Committee's recommendation and to help enhance Hong Kong's economic development.

"I am very pleased with the government's proposal. The scheme will be useful in meeting our manpower needs and enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness and position as a major international financial centre. I trust that both imported professionals and local candidates will compete on a level playing field. The Scheme will benefit Hong Kong," Mr Clarke said.

"Competition has been, and will continue to be, good for Hong Kong," Mr Clarke added.
