Following is the transcript (English portion) of a media session given by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, in Beijing this (March 4) evening:

Reporter: A leading academic and a CPPCC member said that Falun Gong should be banned in Hong Kong because it's a matter of one country rather than two systems. What is your view?

Chief Executive: Let me tell you this. Obviously, we cannot and will not, within the framework of law, allow anybody including Falun Gong to create any disorder or instability in Hong Kong or on the mainland of China. We will obviously watch what Falun Gong does in Hong Kong carefully to make sure that Hong Kong is not being affected.

Chief Executive: You know this is about the stability of our community. This is about a cult. We need to watch their development very, very carefully.
