The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

The Judiciary today (February 23) announced the appointments of Mr Symon WONG Yu-wing; Mr Fankie YIU Fun-che; Ms Tracy CHAN Ling-ling; Mr Rickie CHAN Kam-cheong and Mr TAM Lee-cheung as Permanent Magistrates, with effect from February 26, 2001.

The biographical notes of the newly-appointed Permanent Magistrates are as follows:

Mr Symon WONG Yu-wing

Mr WONG was born in Hong Kong in 1955. He obtained LL.B. from University of Wales in England in 1990 and P.C.LL. from University of Hong Kong in 1992. He was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 1992 and has been in private practice since then.

Mr Frankie YIU Fun-che

Mr YIU was born in Hong Kong in 1969. He obtained LL.B. and P.C.LL. from City University of Hong Kong in 1992 and 1993 respectively. In 1993, he was called to the Bar in Hong Kong and has been in private practice since then.

Ms Tracy CHAN Ling-ling

Ms CHAN was born in Hong Kong in 1956. She obtained LL.B. from London University in 1990 and passed Bar Finals the following year. She was called to the English Bar and Hong Kong Bar in 1991 and 1992 respectively. She was in private practice since 1993.

Mr Rickie CHAN Kam-cheong

Mr CHAN was born in Hong Kong in 1959. He obtained LL.B. and P.C.LL. from University of Hong Kong in 1991 and 1992 respectively. In 1992, he was called to the Hong Kong Bar and has been in private practice since then.

Mr TAM Lee-cheung

Mr TAM was born in Hong Kong in 1959. He obtained LL.B. from University of London in 1989 and P.C.LL. from University of Hong Kong in 1990. He was admitted as Solicitors in Hong Kong in 1992 and has been in private practice since then.
