The Financial Secretary, Mr Donald Tsang, tonight (January 19) launched a comprehensive Internet website devoted to the 2001-02 Budget due to be introduced in the Legislative Council on March 7.
"Although there is a great deal of economic information already available on the Internet through various government home pages, I hope this new website will give the public a thorough understanding of the way we formulate the Budget," Mr Tsang said.
It contains information on how the government manages public finances, including Hong Kong's fiscal position, the government's budgetary principles, relevant details on revenue and expenditure and the economic background. Additional information will be added to the site as it becomes available.
The 2001-02 budget website can be accessed at http://www.info.gov.hk/budget01-02.
