The Judiciary announced today (January 19) the appointment of Registrar of the District Court and four Principal Magistrates. All appointments will take effect from January 22, 2001.
Registrar of the District Court

Ms Queeny AU YEUNG Kwai-yue is appointed Registrar of the District Court.
Principal Magistrates
---------------------
Mr Timothy Simon JENKINS, Mr Ernest Michael LIN Kam-hung, Mr TONG Man and Mr Andrew MA Hon-cheung are appointed Principal Magistrates.
The Honourable Chief Justice Mr Andrew Kwok-nang LI welcomes these appointments. "The appointees are all outstanding judicial officers who will contribute to the Judiciary in upholding the rule of law."

Ms Queeny AU YEUNG Kwai-yue
Ms AU YEUNG was born in Hong Kong in 1962. She obtained LL.B and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1984 and 1985 respectively. She was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1985 and was in private practice until 1995.She was appointed Temporary Magistrate by the Hong Kong Judiciary in 1994 and as Magistrate in 1995.

Mr Timothy Simon JENKINS
Mr JENKINS was born in the United Kingdom in 1957. After graduated from Oxford University and Aberystwyth University in 1976 and 1980 respectively, he completed Solicitors Finals in Law College, Guildford in 1981. He was admitted as Solicitor in the United Kingdom in 1983, and in Hong Kong the following year. He was in private practice between 1981 and 1990. He was appointed Magistrate by the Hong Kong Judiciary in 1990.
Mr Ernest Michael LIN Kam-hung
Mr LIN was born in Hong Kong in 1958. He obtained LL.B., P.C.LL. and M.Soc.Sci. (Crim.) from the University of Hong Kong in 1982, 1983 and 1995 respectively. He was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1984 and was in private practice since then. He was appointed Magistrate by the Hong Kong Judiciary in 1992.
Mr TONG Man
Mr TONG was born in Hong Kong in 1953. He obtained B.Soc.Sc., LL.B. and P.C.LL in 1977, 1986 and 1987 respectively. In 1987, he was called to the Bar in Hong Kong. He joined the then Legal Department as Assistant Crown Counsel in 1987 and was promoted to Senior Crown Counsel in 1991. In 1993, he joined the Hong Kong Judiciary as Magistrate.
Mr Andrew MA Hon-cheung
Mr MA was born in Hong Kong in 1954. Having graduated from Chinese University of Hong Kong with Bachelor of Social Science in 1978, he obtained LL.B., P.C.LL. and LL.M. from the University of Hong Kong in 1986, 1987 and 1991 respectively. In 1996, he obtained Bachelor of Law from the University of Beijing. Mr MA was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1987. He joined the then Legal Department as Court Prosecutor in 1980, as Assistant Crown Counsel and Crown Counsel between 1987 and 1991. He was in private practice since 1991 and was appointed Magistrate by the Hong Kong Judiciary in 1995.
