Following is the transcript (English portion) of a media session given by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, after visiting Sai Kung District this (November 24) afternoon:
Reporter: Mr Tung, what's the implication of the GDP.....?
Chief Executive: Well, the third quarter GDP growth over the year before was 10.4 per cent. It's obviously a very satisfactory number and we have revised upward. Our estimate for the GDP for the whole year of 2000 is from 8.5 per cent to 10 per cent. Obviously, we are pleased with this, but we all have to work harder and that we believe economy will continue to sustain its expansion. But, for the Government, private sector and individuals, we all need to work harder to lay a better foundation so that we can all enjoy the fruit of this expansion.
