The following statement is issued by the Honourable Chief Justice Andrew Kwok-nang Li :

"I am very pleased that the Chief Executive has accepted the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission on the appointment of Mr Justice Arthur Leong Shiu-chung as the Chief Judge of the High Court. Mr Justice Leong is a distinguished Justice of Appeal, who is well respected within and outside the Judiciary," said the Hon Chief Justice.

"According to the Basic Law, the Chief Executive shall obtain the endorsement of the Legislative Council on Mr Justice Leong's appointment.
