The Judiciary today (Oct 11) announced the appointment of Mr Christopher CHAN Cheuk as Registrar of the High Court with effect from October 3, 2000.

The biographical note of Mr CHAN is as follows:

Mr CHAN was born in Hong Kong in 1941. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Master of Arts degree in 1967. He studied law in the College of Law of Lancaster Gate in London in 1970 and Osgood Law School of York University in Toronto in 1990. He was admitted as Solicitor in Hong Kong in 1970, as Barrister and Solicitor in Canada in 1992. Since 1967, he has been in private practice. He was the President of the Law Society in 1996/1997. Mr CHAN was appointed District Judge by the Hong Kong Judiciary in 1998.
