Chief Executive to share policy initiatives with community

*********************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, is looking forward to sharing the policy initiatives of the Government with the community next week when he delivers his 2000 Policy Address.

Mr Tung will present his Policy Address to the Legislative Council at 2.30 pm on October 11 (Wednesday). Immediately after the delivery, he will give a media conference to the local and overseas media.

The Chief Executive will record a short message on his Policy Address for broadcast on all electronic media stations in the evening of October 11. The message will provide the audience with a gist of the Address.

To exchange views direct with members of the public on the Policy Address, the Chief Executive will attend a joint radio phone-in programme in the morning of October 12 (Thursday). The programme will be broadcast live simultaneously on RTHK, Commercial Radio and Metro.

A government spokesman said, "The Chief Executive has been listening to views from all walks of life in preparing the Policy Address. He will take this opportunity to share his views with the audience and, more importantly, to listen to their response."

After attending the radio phone-in programme, Mr Tung will have a meeting with District Council Chairmen to listen to their views on the Policy Address.

In the afternoon, Mr Tung will attend a question-and-answer session on the Policy Address in the Legislative Council and take questions from Members.

On October 16 (Monday), Mr Tung will deliver a keynote speech at a luncheon meeting jointly organised by the chambers of commerce.
