Chief Secretary for Administration's transcript

************************************

Following is the transcript (English portion) of the stand-up session given by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Anson Chan, after the third meeting of Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference in Shenzhen:

Reporter: Do you see any difficulty on both sides to reach more substantive plans or proposals?

Chief Secretary: I don't see any great difficulties. I think that through the cooperation committee, we have, in fact achieved very good progress even though the main committee has not met all that many times. But the experts on both sides have been cooperating fully. There have been long discussions on a whole range of subjects, particularly on protecting the environment and on improving the water quality of Dongjiang water. So on these fronts, we are making extremely good progress. And we will continue to use the mechanism provided by the cooperation committee to follow through on a number of issues, the details of which you will see from the press release that we will issue in just a minute.
