The distributor of a model of wall-mounted electric fans, SANYO EF-K10KH, has agreed to recall the product after the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) found that it had safety problems.

Acting on a complaint, EMSD found that the internal connecting cables of the electric fans might be liable to damage and subsequently cause electrical short circuit after prolonged use.

A spokesman for the department today (August 30) urged the consumers who have purchased this model of wall-mounted fans, bearing serial no. 46001-54000 and 58011-62010, to stop using them immediately and return them to the distributor as soon as practicable.

The distributor will replace for their consumers a new wall-mounted electric fan of similar design, which has been certified safe by a recognized laboratory upon the surrender of the recalled product.
