Piano Recitals by Two Up-and-coming Pianists in the "Young Soloists Series"

************************************************************

Composed of three up-and-coming young pianists, namely Henry Au, Yim Wan and Sheryl Lee, the "Young Soloist Series" has been kicked off on July 23 by Henry Au. On August 6 (Sunday) at 8pm Yim will give her piano recital at the Sha Tin Town Hall Cultural Activities Hall.

Yim will bring great works such as Bach's "Toccata in D, BWV912", Schubert's "Piano Sonata in A Minor, D. 845", Schumann's "Fantasiestucke, Op. 12" and Saint-Saens' "Etude pour le piano en forme de valse, Op. 52, No. 6" in her concert.

Yim Wan was born to a musical family and has performed widely in the Far East, including solo, chamber music recitals and concerto appearances in Hong Kong and mainland China. While in Hong Kong, she has won many prizes and scholarship which enables her to attend the Aspen Music Festival in the States. She had her early study at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 1994, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music awarded her a full scholarship to study in the Bachelor of Music programme with Monique Duphil. In view of her outstanding work at the Conservatory, she was selected as a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Theta Honor Society. Yim now studies at The Juilliard School of Music with Jerome Lowenthal, and received her Master of Music degree in this summer.

On August 27 (Sunday), Sheryl Lee will give her piano recital as the closing programme of the series in the Tuen Mun Town Hall Cultural Activities Hall at 8 pm. In the concert, the talented pianist will present five works, including "Suite No. 5 in E" by Handel, "Piano Sonata No. 31 in A-flat, Op. 110" by Beethoven, "Vallee d'Obermann" by Liszt, "Four Impromptus, D. 899" by Schubert and "Danzas Argentinas" by Ginastera.

Sheryl Lee began her piano studies in her native Hong Kong at the age of four and studied under a number of distinguished masters in North America and Europe. Currently, she is studying in Los Angeles. Her talent has brought her a number of prizes and scholarship that enabled her to study at Yale University in 1997.
