Road Works to facilitate Theme Park development in Penny's Bay

The Civil Engineering Department is planning to construct a series of local roads and ancillary works on Lantau Island, to facilitate the Disney Theme Park development in this area.

The works will be carried out in phases for completion in the next four to six years. The first construction contract is expected to commence in November 2001.

The proposed works include :-

(1) construction of 1.8 km dual 2-lane carriageway, West

Resort Road, including the West Resort Bridge over the

future Penny's Bay Rail Link;

(2) construction of 1.1 km dual 2-lane carriageway, Road P2,

including the P2 roundabout at the southeast of the Water

Recreation Centre;

(3) construction of 0.85 km central pedestrian walkway

leading to the Theme Park;

(4) construction of a promenade along the seawall at the

southern side of Penny's Bay reclamation;

(5) construction of a pedestrian subway south of the P2

roundabout between the utility yard and the Water

Recreation Centre;

(6) construction of a vehicle access road leading to the

existing power station in Penny's Bay;

(7) construction of three car parks with two near the Theme

Park and one at the Water Recreation Centre;

(8) construction of an access road linking Road P2 to the

Water Recretion Centre;

(9) construction of a public transport interchange at

Penny's Bay;

(10) construction of 3.2 km dual 3-lane expressway, Chok Ko

Wan Link Road, connecting the existing North Lantau

Highway at Yam O Interchange and the future Route 10 at

Fa Peng;

(11) construction of 1.83 km dual 2-lane carriageway/elevated

carriageway, Road P2, connecting the proposed public

transport interchange at Yam O and the future Theme Park

at Penny's Bay including a section of road under the North

Lantau Highway, and an elevated carriageway over the Tung

Chung Line, Airport Express Line, and the future Penny's

Bay Rail Link;

(12) construction of a roundabout interchange connecting

Chok Ko Wan Link Road and Road P2 at Penny's Bay

reclamation;

(13) construction of a public transport interchange at Yam

O;
