New Food Safety Bulletins published

***********************************

To enhance public understanding on food safety and food hygiene, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) has launched two new Food Safety Bulletins in Chinese for the general public and the food trade respectively.

The Food Safety Bulletins will be published on a quarterly basis to provide a regular update of food safety information.

In the inaugural edition of the bulletin targetted at the public, readers will find articles on genetically modified food, safety tips on sushi and sashimi and legislation on food labelling.

In the bulletin for the trade, the topics are similar but the angle has been adjusted to suit the food industry.

The bulletin for the public can now be obtained at the District Offices (Environmental Hygiene) of the FEHD; Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department, public libraries and major supermarket stores.

The bulletin for the food trade will be distributed to licensed food premises during routine inspection by FEHD's Health Inspectors.

The two bulletins have also been uploaded onto the FEHD's homepage (http://www.info.gov.hk/fehd).
