"Sustainable Development is what we need, you are responsible for the lead."
Co-authors of the above champion slogan in the English Section, Mr Yip Kin-cheung and Ms Jessica Lam of Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Kwai Chung), and other winners in the Secondary School Slogan Competition on Sustainable Development received the prizes from the Director of Planning, Mr Bosco Fung, and Deputy Chief Inspector of Education Department, Mrs Betty Ip, today (June 23).
The winning entries were chosen from a total of 397 Chinese and 51 English entries submitted by secondary school students who attended a series of workshops organised by the Planning Department between December 1999 and January 2000.
The workshops were organised as part of an awareness raising exercise to promote sustainable development and to enable the students to better appreciate the meaning of sustainable development.
"Sustainable development in Hong Kong balances social, economic and environmental needs, both for present and future generations," Mr Fung said.
