The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, will visit Shanghai early next month to strengthen economic cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Mr Tung will leave for Shanghai on June 1 and return to Hong Kong on June 3.

During the visit, Mr Tung will meet with senior officials of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and visit economic facilities to be updated on Shanghai's developments.

On June 2, Mr Tung will speak at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Metropolis Development Conference, jointly organised by the Hong Kong-Shanghai Economic Development Association and the Shanghai Chinese Overseas Friendship Association.

Details of the programme and the accompanying delegation will be announced later.
