The following is issued on behalf of the Housing Authority:

The Housing Authority (HA) today (April 15) announced the appointment of its two new members, Mr Cheng Yan-kee and Dr Law Chi-kwong, to the Building Committee for two years effective from 1 April. Dr Law will also serve on the Rental Housing Committee.

Mr Cheng, a civil and structural engineer by profession, is the managing director of H.K. Cheng & Partners Ltd., while Dr Law, a Legislative Councillor, is a senior lecturer at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the University of Hong Kong.

The HA today also announced the re-appointment of 41 members to various committees either for a period of two years, or in the case of some HA members, for one year to tie in with the expiry date of their appointment as HA member. Details of the appointments are listed below.

Chairman of the Housing Authority, Dr Rosanna Wong, welcomed new members and said she looks forward to working hand in hand with them in face of the challenges ahead.

Meanwhile, eleven members have retired from the HA and its committees. "I would like to thank outgoing Authority members Mr Lee Wing-tat and Dr Joseph Chow Ming-kuen; and committee members Ms Jennifer Chow Kit-bing, Mr Ma Ching-yuk, Mr Lui Ping-keung, Mr Lee Kai-ming, Mr Raymond Tse Chee-on, Mr Vincent Ma Shiu-ming, Mr Hui Chiu-fai, Mr Hardy Lok Kung-chin and Dr Paul Li Pui-man, for their contributions and dedication during their terms of service," Dr Wong said.

I. Brief biographies of New Committee Members

Mr Cheng Yan-kee

Mr Cheng is a civil and structural engineer, and Managing Director of H.K. Cheng and Partners Ltd. He is the Chairman of Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee of the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Dr the Hon. Law Chi-kwong

(Member of Building Committee and Rental Housing Committee)

Dr Law is a senior lecturer and an Associate Professor of Department of the Social Work and Social Administration, the University of Hong Kong. Dr Law is also a Legislative Councillor, a member of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee and an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.
