The Judiciary today (April 14) announced the appointment of Mr Simon KWANG Cheok-weung as Permanent Magistrate with effect from April 17, 2000.

The biographical note of Mr KWANG is as follows :

Mr KWANG was born in Hong Kong in 1963. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1985 and 1986. He was admitted as solicitor in Hong Kong and England and Wales in 1988 and 1991. He was later admitted as Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore in 1994. He was in private practice since 1986. Mr KWANG has been appointed by the Hong Kong Judiciary as Deputy Presiding Officer of the Labour Tribunal on a number of occasions since April 1999.
