Erhu Music by Ray Wong and Leading Instrumentalists

Leading erhu virtuoso, Ray Wong will join hands with other instrumentalists to bring audience a brand new sensation of erhu music for two consecutive nights at 8:00pm on April 7 (Friday) and 8 (Saturday) at the Cultural Activities Hall of the Sha Tin Town Hall and Tsuen Wan Town Hall respectively.

Ray Wong is an outstanding young huqin performer in Hong Kong. He started learning the erhu at an early age from his father, Professor Wang Guotong - a celebrated erhu virtuoso, music educationalist and composer. Having inherited his father's skill, he is adapted in playing various kind of huqin. Wong studied at the Central Conservatory of Music and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. His performances with many orchestras as conductor and soloist won him acclaim. He also made a number of popular records and gave numerous concerts.

Wong is currently the Music Director of Hong Kong Arts Performing Troupe, Executive Director of the Arts of Guzheng Academy as well as teaching at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In the coming concert, Wong will be performing with various popular instrumentalists including Choi Sown Le (piano); Amy Kwok (Guzheng); Kitty Leung and Gary Tse (electronic organ); Tam Kwok-king, Chan Chiu-pang and Pang Hong-tai (Dizi/ Sheng).

The concert will be an evening of varied musical colours with Wong starting off with the erhu solo, "Falling Snow", "Feelings", "A Lullaby for Our Baby", "Yesterday, Today" and "Recollections".

Other highlights of the evening will include a medley of melodious pop songs: "The Moon Represents My Heart", "Forget Him", "The Small Town Story" and "When Will You Return"; "Dance of the Yao Tribe"; Chinese classics: "Moonlight on the Spring River", "Scenes of the South" and "Nostalgia"; selections from cartoon series: "Laputa", "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Totoro"; "Love-Tell Me, Humanity, What is Love?"; "Love me Tender" and "Our 1997".

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, tickets for the concert cost HK$70 and are now available at all URBTIX outlets with half-price concession for senior citizens, the disabled and full-time students. There will also be a discount of 15% for Friends of Sha Tin Town Hall, Tuen Mun Town Hall, Tsuen Wan Town Hall and Kwai Tsing Theatre.
