Live broadcast of Budget Speech delivery on Internet

Internet users will be able to watch the live broadcast of the 2000-2001 Budget Speech delivery by the Financial Secretary, Mr Donald Tsang, in the Legislative Council at 2.30 pm tomorrow (Wednesday).

By choosing "Live Broadcast" under the icon "2000-01 Budget" on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Homepage at http://www.gov.hk/en/residents/, they will be able to view the whole proceeding.

Mr Tsang will hold a press conference at around 5 pm after his delivery of the Budget Speech. He will also participate in a joint television panel discussion on the Budget at 8.30 pm tomorrow. Both will also be broadcast live on the Government Homepage.

The full text of the Budget Speech will be uploaded in segments onto the Government Homepage when Mr Tsang is delivering it in the Legislative Council. Other Budget related documents, appendices and statistics will also be uploaded onto the Homepage.

Copies of the Budget Speech and a leaflet on Budget highlights will be available for collection by members of the public after 4.45 pm tomorrow.

Interested persons can get a copy of the Budget Speech while the stock lasts from 18 District Offices of the Home Affairs Department, and a counter set up by the Marketing Office of the Information Services Department on the ground floor of Murray Building, Garden Road, Central.

A leaflet, highlighting the main points of the 2000-2001 Budget and how they affect Hong Kong citizens, will be distributed free to the public at:

* Mass Transit Railway stations in Central, Causeway Bay, Tai Koo, Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong, Kwai Fong and Tsuen Wan;

* Kowloon-Canton Railway stations in Hung Hom, Kowloon Tong and Sha Tin;

* counter set up by the Marketing Office of the Information Services Department on the ground floor of Murray Building;

* Government Publications Centre, Queensway Government Offices, Low Block, ground floor, 66 Queensway;

* Government Offices at Immigration Tower, Revenue Tower and Wan Chai Tower in Wan Chai; Queensway Government Offices at 66 Queensway; North Point Government Offices at 333 Java Road; Tsuen Wan Government Offices at 38 Sai Lau Kok Road and Central Government Offices at Lower Albert Road;

* 18 District Offices of the Home Affairs Department ; and

* shopping centres of 51 housing estates:
