Suspected fish bombs seized off Tai Long Wan

Marine Police arrested nine Mainlanders following the seizure of suspected fish bombs on board a Mainland fishing vessel off Tai Long Wan late last (Thursday) night.

At about 9.30 pm, a Police launch on patrol intercepted a suspicious fishing vessel off Tai Long Wan.

A sebsequent search in the 17.5-metre-long vessel discovered inside the cabin some explosives and detonators, suspected to be fish bombs. The quantity and weight have yet to be confirmed.

Coming from Yang Jiang of Guangdong, nine Mainlanders on board the vessel, aged 19 to 45, were arrested for possessing explosives. They claimed that they were on their way to Mirs Bay for fishing.

The explosives together with the vessel have been impounded at Marine East Divisional Base in Sai Kung for further checks.

The nine men are now being detained by Regional Crime Unit, Marine Police, for further enquiries.
