Chief Executive's Lunar New Year message

****************************************

The following is the full text of the Lunar New Year message delivered by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, today (Friday):

Another New Year is dawning, as time passes swiftly by.

In the past, when Chinese New Year drew near, no matter where we were, we would always try to return home to see our parents. To us, family reunion has always been a bliss.

Nowadays, we still maintain the fine traditions of Chinese New Year. As Hong Kong society and lifestyle continue to evolve, some of our family members may be living, working or studying abroad and some may be out of town taking a holiday during Chinese New Year. So it may not always be possible for the whole family to get together at this blissful time of the year. Nevertheless, our respect for family values and Chinese traditions remains unchanged. Wherever we are, we will bring our good wishes and blessings to members of our family.

On this auspicious day, on behalf of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, I would like to wish the people of Hong Kong Happy New Year. May success crown all your endeavours. May Hong Kong thrive vigorously in the Year of the Dragon.
