In reply to a letter addressed to the Chief Executive by Miss Lin Qiaoying, the Office of the Chief Executive stated today (Thursday), "The Government is very concerned about this case. The Police are conducting an investigation as to whether there are grounds to substantiate any possible offence of perverting the course of justice."

"After the Police have completed the investigation, the HKSAR Government will take suitable follow-up action according to the findings of the investigation. While the investigation is on-going, it is not appropriate to make any speculation on the outcome.

"The rule of law and the principles of equality and natural justice are cornerstones of our society. The Government is firmly committed to upholding these principles."
