The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:

The Electoral Affairs Commission today (October 30) submitted to the Chief Executive a report containing recommendations for the delineation of five geographical constituencies and the name proposed for each constituency in respect of the Legislative Council election in September 2000.

The report has two volumes. Volume 1 is the report proper, which spells out how the Commission made its recommendations and the rationale for its decision. Volume 2 contains a set of maps of the constituencies and a detailed description of the boundaries.

The Commission drew up its recommendations after considering all the representations made during a one-month public consultation exercise in September.
