CE to present 1999 Policy Address & hold press conference

The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, will present his 1999 Policy Address tomorrow (Wednesday).

He will begin his address at 2.30 pm. The proceedings will be broadcast live on TVB-Jade and Pearl, ATV- Home and World, and Cable TV (News 1), as well as Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) radio channels 1 and 5 and Commercial Radio(CR)-AM864.

Mr Tung will give a press conference immediately after his delivery of the speech. The proceedings will be broadcast live on TVB-Jade and Pearl, ATV-Home, Wharf Cable (News 1) and CR-AM864.

The radio and TV stations will also carry a five-minute message by the Chief Executive on his Policy Address tomorrow evening. The message will be broadcast by CR-2, CR-AM864 and TVB-Jade right after the delivery of the Policy Address, Metro-Hit Radio and Metro-FM Select after the 5 pm newscast, Metro-Plus after the 5 pm and 7 pm newscasts, 881 CR-1 after the 6 pm newscast, RTHK-1 and RTHK-3 after the 7 pm newscast, ATV-Home at 5.15 pm, TVB-Pearl at 7.10 pm, ATV-World at 8 pm, Wharf Cable (News 2) at 8 pm and 8.20 pm on October 6 and 12.20 am on October 7.

RTHK will broadcast live both the video and audio version of the Chief Executive's delivery of the Policy Address and his five-minute message on the Internet at its website http://www.rthk.org.hk.

On Thursday (October 7), the Chief Executive will take calls from listeners in a radio phone-in programme on the Policy Address organised jointly by RTHK, Commercial Radio and Metro Broadcast Corporation from 7.45 am to 9.15 am. The programme, in Chinese, will be broadcast live on Wharf Cable (News 1), RTHK-1, RTHK-5 and RTHK-AM621 (Putonghua channel), 881 CR-1 and Metro-Hit Radio.

Mr Tung will then attend an English phone-in session on RTHK-3 from 9.20 am to 10 am. The Cantonese interpretation of this session will also be broadcast on RTHK-1 and RTHK-5, and Putonghua interpretation on RTHK-AM621.

In the afternoon at 3 pm, Mr Tung will brief the Legislative Council on the Policy Address and answer questions from Members. The proceedings will be broadcast live by TVB-Jade, Wharf Cable (News 1) and RTHK-1.
